Overview
The Diploma program in Bharatanatyam will focus on both the practical and the theoretical aspects of the dance form. The students will have a deep understanding of origin, history and the modern-day practice of this Classical Dance form
Duration: One year (spread over 2 semesters)
Required Units: 15 credit units
Required Courses: Total of 5 courses (4 core mandatory and 1 elective)
Admission Prerequisites:
A high school diploma or GED is required
Practical dance training of at least 2 years

DBN 301: History, Origin and development of Sadir to Bharatanatyam
DBN 302: Nayaka and Nayika
DBN 303: Practical Dance
DBN 304: Bhakthi movement and it’s influence on Bharatanatyam
Electives:
DBN 401: – Folk Dance forms of Tamilnadu
DBN 402: – An Overview of the Dasarupakas, Nirupanas and Bhagavatamelas
Evaluation:
A student enrolled in the Diploma program is evaluated using the following methods/metrics:
Written Exam at the end of each course
Program Final Exam at the completion of all courses together:
The final exam will be a combination of a written exam and a practical demonstration exam.
Assignments:Students have to complete assignments in each course before taking the course exam
Quizzes:Students have to complete quizzes in each course before taking the course exam
Students will be awarded a Diploma in Bharatanatyam on the successful completion of all the required courses, with an overall combined GPA of 2.0, based on the evaluation weightages across the various methods/metrics.
Tuition Fees:
$5,400 to complete all the 15 credit units in the Diploma program.

Overview
The objective of this program would be to give the students a glimpse into the famous Indian Classical Dance form – Bharatanatyam. This certificate course is designed to give an insight into the theoretical and the practical aspect of the dance form. The course is designed in such a way that it would not only help one understand and appreciate this art form but also serve as a stepping stone to unravel the nuances of this Indian Classical dance form.
Duration: 2 semesters
Required Units: 9 credit units
Required Courses: Total of 3 courses (2 core mandatory and 1 elective).

CBN 203: Fundamentals of Carnatic music and its importance in Bharatanatyam (Unit Value – 3 credit unit)
EVALUATION:
A student enrolled in the certificate program is evaluated using the following methods/metrics:
